Holiday Countdown Series- Day 5

Hello it's Kristie Larsen here. I am excited to finally be able to share my holiday countdown project with you! I made up a little Christmas Advent Calendar (that's actually, not that little ;)

Let get to the details, shall we?!  I started with my Basis card stock in both dark red, dark green and this little tab die cut that essentially can turn any die cut into a tag. With some partial die cutting, my tab and pillow box die cuts, I could turn this dark red card stock...

 Into this:

Now my pillow box die cut can be made into boxes that can hang!
I also die cut 25 of these gorgeous snowflakes from my favourite Gold Pow Glitter paper.

I die cut these pinked circles out of Basis White and adhered all my snowflakes.

Before folding my pillow boxes, I stamped a basic background image on them with matching ink. And then adhered the circles to my boxes using Glue Dot Glue Lines.

Then it was a matter of  folding them and adding ribbon. I stamped, coloured and fussy cut all of my numbers and popped them up with dimensional foam.

In each pillow box is a tag to be used for writing out the activity for the day. The pillow boxes are a great size to include candies if you want to or even little trinkets! In my house we have a pile of christmas books that sit under the tree all month long. So there are a lot of days we choose a book to read or even a short christmas movie for our advent activity. And on Christmas Eve I like to read the birth story in the bible. You can do all sorts of things for your own advent calendar. There is a TON of inspiration out there about what to do for each day. And get creative! Use what works for you and your family...that's the fun part!

After they were all put together and stuffed with tags and treats, its time to hang them! Singapore doesn't have Christmas trees yet, so I opted to hang mine on garland. But I love the idea of these as ornaments!

Here are a few shots of my little advent boxes:

And the full deal!:

This is such a fun project to do!  Do you have an advent calendar you use?  I grew up on those little chocolate boxes with windows, but I think these are much more fun!

Have you ever made your own? It's a great way to make the holidays unique to you and your family. And it doesn't have to be just for Christmas. You could easily adapt this idea for Hanukkah, or even Elf on the Shelf! There are so many possibilities, its just a matter of time before you create your own fun holiday masterpiece!

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you have an amazing month and find a lot of inspiration for all all your creative juices. Join us too on Facebook and Pinterest... There is enough crafty fun to go around!

Until next time,
xoxo
